Privacy
Koboc is a non-custodial app: it helps you move money between your own mobile-money wallets and never holds a balance for you. This page says what we collect, why, and what we never do, in plain words.
What we collect
- Your phone numbers. The number you sign in with and the numbers of the wallets you add. Each is confirmed by a code sent to that SIM, so we know you hold it.
- Your device. A random key the app creates on your phone, so your account stays on your phone. We store only a hash of it, never the key.
- Your exchanges. What you exchanged, the rate, the fee, the reference your provider gave, and any cashback paid. This is your statement.
- The registered name on a wallet. When a provider's record of a payment shows a name, we keep it to label your statement. We never ask you to type a name.
- Messages we send you. Codes and notices by SMS or WhatsApp, with whether they were delivered.
What we never collect
- No identity documents at sign-up.
- No contacts, no location, no photos, no reading of your messages.
- No balances: Koboc never sees how much is in your wallets.
- No provider PINs: your ZAAD, eDahab, EVC Plus or Sahal PIN is typed into your provider's own menu, never into Koboc.
Why we use it
To prove that a wallet is yours, to show you the right rates and routes for your wallets, to pay cashback to the right wallet, to keep your statement, and to spot abuse such as someone trying many numbers.
Who we share it with
- Your mobile-money providers, Telesom, Somtel, Hormuud and Golis, to send you codes and to carry out the exchanges you ask for.
- Meta, when you choose to receive a code on WhatsApp: your number and the message go through WhatsApp's business service.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Exchange records are kept as long as the law on financial records requires. Codes are deleted once used or expired. Message bodies are deleted once sent. Everything else is kept while you have an account and deleted when you close it, except what the law makes us keep.
Your choices
- Remove a wallet from your account at any time in the app.
- Sign out of a phone at any time; signing in on a new phone signs the old one out.
- Close your account by writing to us; we confirm it from the number on the account.
Security
Codes are stored only as hashes. Sessions are bound to your phone. Everything travels over encrypted connections. Our staff see your records only to handle an exchange or a question you raise.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the app tells you before the change applies.
